My role as Art Director consisted of managing a small team of designers, as well as designing material to promote concerts and events at the symphony. My projects were mostly print based. It was a fast paced environment in which being resourceful was crucial to solve creative challenges.

Event Posters:

Every show at the Symphony gets a poster to promote it. For most of the season poster design consisted of selecting images and placing the headline and program information in ways that were readable at a glimpse.

Christmas and summer were opportunities to switch up the design and create something different. Other variables included the Music For Families series, which required customized artwork. The challenge was to create illustrations that captured the essence of each show while remaining whimsical and playful.

Final poster on the left. Visual exploration on the right.

This project was a collaboration within the design team to promote the concert in a way that stood out from the standard seasonal poster layout for the Symphony. The concept was to reflect the social uproar this music created when it originally premiered using the idea of redaction and painting them as outlaws.

Volunteer Council Month Installation

This project had a week turnaround with no directive except for requests to use a handful of images provided. The purpose of the installation was to show appreciation for the member of the SF Symphony Volunteer Council. I put the Symphony brand’s colors and font front and center in order to draw people closer and have them explore the content.

I suggested we use 3 basic shapes to represent the M.C.E in Maestro’s Circle Evening. I also wanted to have rounded corners on all edges. The request was to make it look clean and modern.
